New Jersey and You, Perfect Together - Approved by Cosby!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Who doesn’t remember those New Jersey and You, Perfect Together tourism commercials from back in the 1980s and early 1990s featuring Governor Tom Kane. This one has a Bill Cosby voice over and of course the governor at the end. Judging from the look of Governor Kane, we’d date this from the 1980s.

Where else would Bill Cosby go for a weeks vacation with his wife?

More Uncle Floyd’s New Jersey

Monday, March 10th, 2008

A few weeks ago we stumbled upon a clip of New Jersey television icon Uncle Floyd exploring New Jersey. We found another clip
from him. This time is is Patterson in Passaic County. As expected, wackiness ensues when hardly anyone recognizes him.

WCBS-TV Salutes New Jersey (1981)

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

How did WCBS salute New Jersey in 1981?
With about ten seconds of film - a plane landing at Newark Airport, what we think may be the State House in Trenton, and a highway bridge!
Yeah, that really sums up New Jersey!

Positively New Jersey and Meeeeeeeeee

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

If you are like us, you have fond memories of staying up late or getting up early to see New Jersey Network (New Jersey’s statewide public television station) close or open their broadcast day. For awhile in the 1980s they used this brilliant station branding anthem called “Positively New Jersey” composed by Jerome Gilmer. It took us awhile to find a video of it anywhere, and for the longest time YouTube just had a parody version, so we are thankful to whoever in the 1980s recorded this and placed it up onto YouTube last month!

We love the mix of stock footage and bits taken from PBS network imaging campaigns all to a brilliant anthem about the Garden State. Who needs some English drinking song set to bad poetry written in Baltimore to start or end your broadcast day!

Some people mistakenly think it is the state song, but it isn’t since New Jersey doesn’t have one. If you want an actual copy of the song, you can find it on composer Jerome Gilmer’s website in a glorious full length stereo mp3.

Positively New Jersey. . . and meeeeeeeeee!
